Paper Abstract:      The “knowledge society” depends on economical value raised by various knowledge management information systems. This paper shows an example of integration of a semantic system in an industrial information system to improve collaboration across multiple trades and nationalities. It describes how a reusable and semantic intranet sub-system helps trades and crafts actors of shipbuilding activity in cross-lingual sharing of the industrial content dedicated to “Quality, Health, Safety, Environment” (QHSE). The so-called prototype “Semantic Quality Environment” (SQE) touches many subjects such as IS in practice, technology infrastructures, organization process, information and knowledge management, aided self-learning or ontological assumptions in IS Research.
